Life as a Journey at Sea
Life is an endless sea. We sail either with a clear course or adrift, trying to find direction along the way. Sometimes the journey is dark, foggy, and harsh. At other times, it is peaceful, sunny, and joyful. In either case, what truly matters is the journey itself.

Being under the guidance of a teacher is not always easy. The teacher may test the student, create challenges, and place obstacles along the path. At its highest form, the teacher-student relationship is based on unconditional love. There is complete openness between the two. The student holds nothing back, offering everything to the teacher so that transformation can begin. The student arrives with faith, entrusting their entire life to the teacher, who then removes what is unnecessary and carves what remains into something pure and essential.
Breaking the Ego, Not Holding the Hand
The teacher’s role is not to comfort, but to cut through the ego. Their purpose is to remove all barriers between the student and freedom. If dependence develops, the teacher breaks it – pushing the student toward independence and personal strength.
The Student’s Responsibility
A student should not come with expectations or preconceived ideas, but with a burning desire to learn and the determination to grow. The student’s first responsibility is to prepare – organising life and thought in a way that supports simplicity and purity. The student’s task is to act on the teacher’s guidance, while working towards selflessness and the dissolution of ego – the primary barrier to awareness and clarity.
Learning in Silence
As the student surrenders ego and grows in humility, intuitive learning begins. They start to tune into the teacher’s presence and frequency. This learning often takes place in silence – not through lectures, but through presence, action, and alignment.
The path becomes one of doing duties with love, remaining unattached, and surrendering – all of which purify the student and prepare them for deeper wisdom.
The Purpose of Dedication
The student dedicates themselves to the teacher not as an act of worship or submission, but to be guided toward the purpose of human life: self-knowledge and the discovery of inner divinity. This journey is not something postponed to a distant future – it can be realised in this very life.
The Teacher as a Source of Clarity
The teacher is a source of clarity, virtue, and love. Standing beside such a person elevates the student. The overflow of the teacher’s values spills into the student, like water flowing into a vessel. The teacher chooses the student, and it is through this transmission that growth happens.
Awareness and Humanity
From the student’s perspective, success depends on preparation, detachment, and consistent practice. But it’s also vital to recognise that the teacher is a human being – one who navigates the same ocean of life. What distinguishes the teacher is an elevated awareness and the ability to guide others with clarity. Only someone attuned to their own inner guide can awaken that guidance in others.
When the Teacher Is Within
When the student reaches a point where they can speak with their teacher internally, they begin to understand the true meaning of the word “teacher.” At this stage, the relationship becomes absolute.
